The new online presence of Kraftwerke Oberhasli (KWO) places alpine hydropower and technical precision centre stage – with a modern design, clear structure and powerful imagery. Linkgroup conceived, designed and built the platform on an intuitive Craft CMS. The timing is deliberate: the new website is launched to coincide with KWO’s centenary.
A convincing start to a successful collaboration
Even at the pitch stage, Linkgroup laid the foundation for a successful collaboration: by conducting an Open Project Framework workshop, the team demonstrated a structured yet adaptable approach – practical and tailored to KWO’s specific needs. This won them the contract and resulted in a modern platform that fully meets KWO’s communication goals.
Technology that gives freedom
The website is built on the powerful, modular Craft CMS, which enables KWO to manage all their content efficiently and independently. Interactive elements such as the plant overview are also seamlessly integrated.
Clear structure for diverse audiences
The new navigation is designed entirely with user-friendliness in mind. Whether the media, regulators, experts, potential employees or interested members of the public – all audiences can access relevant content with just a few clicks: from facts about hydropower plants and current projects to information on sustainability, finance and careers, through to the centenary.
Design showcases hydropower and technology
With 13 power stations and eight reservoirs, KWO is one of Switzerland’s leading hydropower companies, generating up to 2,200 gigawatt hours of CO₂-free electricity each year – safely and reliably. The new design provides a clear picture of KWO’s performance and innovative strengthwith large-format images that capture the interplay of natural forces and technology. Linkgroup also subtly modernised the existing corporate design: nuanced shades of blue, green and yellow, combined with typography in blue rather than black, create a calm layout that provides orientation, strengthens brand identity and gives the striking imagery the space it needs.
A digital stage for emotional stories and in-depth insights
The new website gives greater weight to content. Articles from the “Grimselwelt Magazin” can now be published as digital stories, for example. Another highlight is the interactive plant overview: a 3D model of the whole plant landscape that invites users to explore locations and access targeted information. This makes even technically complex infrastructure easy to visualise and understand.
Strong profile as an employer
The careers section presents KWO as an attractive employer in the energy sector. It offers not only current job vacancies but also authentic insights into working at KWO – with portraits, videos and clear statements on values, workplace culture and opportunities for development.
100 years of KWO: history as a bridge to the future
In 2025, KWO celebrates its centenary. References to the anniversary are carefully integrated into the website so that it features without being too dominant, serving as an example of living history and a starting point for future success.
